Thurmont Primary School is located in a farming community outside of Frederick, Maryland. We broke down the massing of this large school by creating a series of pediments that make the building look like a a community of smaller structures. Neutral colors and materials allow the building to rest unobtrusively in the soft landscape.

Matapeake Elementary School is located on Maryland's eastern shore. The school wraps around a courtyard that is used for classes, gatherings and environmental studies.

The curving glazed facade of Southern Middle School's new cafeteria wing makes a dynamic statement while remaining comfortably integrated with the original school.
